Unimpressed
My hosting account with Site5 is on their ‘orestes‘ server, and it has experience so much downtime over the last month or two - and I’m very unimpressed. It’s hardly the 99.9% uptime that they advertise, and as for their knowledgeable technical support team - I really beg to differ.
After telling them (at length) about how dissatisfied I was with the service I was getting and that I was not really getting any value for money, I requested to be moved to another server (such as the one which has over 550+ days of uptime). My response, although fast, was pathetic:
Unfortunately we are unable to move you to another server at this time as all moves are suspended during our migration to the planet.
Yeah, thanks for your help. Thanks for the apology. Thanks for the percentage refund due to the downtime I’ve experienced. I feel it should be offered, but alas, I’ve had to request it: great customer service!
I know there are many people out there who rave about Site5, their fantastic support and all they have to offer. I really am not happy right now, particularly when I read articles like Nan’s: Site5 deleted a whole bunch of her database entries.
I’ve been with so many hosting companies over the last couple of years. AN Hosting, otherwise known as MidPhase Hosting, has still been by far the best. Regretting the move, and kind of questioning why I ever left!
EDIT: Just got a response from a rep called Jessica who was really nice and gave me the response I was after. She gave me a credit, and although I don’t plan to use it, she was sincere, apologetic and polite: all I expected! Considering AN again and Nellie’s suggestion of buyback with Holdfire!

That is very shit service!! All customer service, all over the world seems to have turned to crap.
I almost screamed at the lady from vodafone (my cellphone network) because they screwed up my credit, but there was nothing she could do about it. WTF?! why are you on the “customer service 0800 number” then?!
Keep prodding them until you get a good deal! Crap companies just hope you’ll give up & they’ll win,

That’s horrible. I’m glad they at least did something. Some hosts will just have a tough luck attitude. I’m with 02g.net. I’ happy so far, but I’m still within the 30 day refund period so…

The good thing about my hosting is I have never had to contact the customer service… it just works. Surely boasting about customer service means we have good damage control that we frequently have to use.
p.s. just so you know I almost typed my email as @hotmail.coc

I’ve never owned a domain so I can’t understand what you’re going through and it’s scary to me. I want a domain in the future but having issues would constantly annoy me. My hostess is always there (she’s my best friend in real life) so I’m happy with that.

I’ve heard of other people’s issues with Site5. It seems their customer service went downhill drastically and who is surprised with the kind of packages they are offering. I’m sure their customer base increased by quite a bit and so of course, customer service, what they were KNOWN FOR, suffers.
Sorry you are having problems

You should go to ComfortHost. I’ve been with them for years now and they’re the best. You get value for your money, I’ve NEVER had a downtime issue, and their tech support is not only incredibly fast (they usually get back to me within a couple hours) but also INCREDIBLY helpful.
