The Importance of Routine

Hi, my name is Patrick and I’m an alcoholic, and I blame it all on the fact that I longer have any sense of routine in my life. I cannot wait to start my degree (in eleven days time), simply for the fact that my liver will get a rest, and so will my eyes.

Having finished school officially at the end of October last year, but technically late August early September, I have had nothing to do but drink. I have not had to worry about ’school the next day’ or any assignments and essays that are due and this has caused my body great harm. After spending the last eight days drunk, I have started to realise how much I am craving education once again.

No longer will my health depend on my ‘responsibility’, but on the simple fact that I will not have time to go out and trash the hell out of myself. My days will not be filled with BBQs and beer under the sun any longer, but my filling my brain with fun-filled facts to get me a career. Sure, that career may well be in a bar surrounded by alcohol once again, but the fact that I’m learning makes it all seem so much better.

No longer will I spend until midday in bed wasting the day away. No longer will I turn up to work with yet another hangover. In fact, I may very well be apart of FebFast and be sober this month.

I’m gonna be a changed little boy!!

  1. I was thinking of joining FebFast, but then realised I’d be overseas for half of it…and really, if you don’t drink when you’re overseas, what are you going to do? :P

Best of luck with your first year of uni anyway….I’m surprised you start so early? I’m not back until the first week of March.

  2. That’s good to know Paddy. Good luck with it! Yeah you start quite early, I don’t start til the 25th :D Have fun in uni!

yah… haha, private college (wank on, I know)!

WELL if you’re overseas, maybe you can get away with ‘legal’ cheating? It’s .com.au, SURELY that means the rules don’t apply if you’re in NZ?!

  4. Good luck. :)

…Wouldn’t that be hard to accomplish? Although I do have a classmate who turns up to school with a hangover almost everyday (even for exams), yet still manages to have great marks. :D

  5. Whoa, you start early. UWS doesn’t start ’til February 25th, but I have a shitload of conferences and orientation crap to do before then. Boo hiss.

Anyway. Best of luck for starting uni, dude. Only a few days of self-rotting vay-kay left and then it’ll be back into independent study mode. Woohoo…!

The amount you drink does tend to worry me a tad, so I’m glad to hear you’ll be taking it easy when your studies start up. That said, stress isn’t good for you either, so do take time from your degree to chill too!

Told you to add me on your blog so I’m going to add myself instead of waiting for you to get your sorry ass onto it. I’ll even put up “Misty” on the recordings page if you’re nice to me.

I did ballet last night for the first time and turned my ankle. Can you imagine me doing ballet? I was a good four inches taller than any other girl in the room.

DUDE, that’s what the URI box is for when you make a comment! So people click your name and go to your wesbite! I’ll add it into my links tomorrow when I make a post, can’t be bothered logging in tonight! You better put Misty on though! And Summertime.

  9. Oops.

I don’t know, I don’t use blogs or read them or whatever one is supposed to do with blogs.

*goes to stand on the naughty spot*

(I think I’ve done it right this time though)

  10. Ooh Good luck to it Paddy! Btw, what plugin you are using for the threaded comments? Is it Brian’s? I have been looking for a hacked version of it coz I am somewhat lazy to just check the code and do some cosmetic changes

  11. Glad to hear that! It will definitely help to be sober or at least a bit more sober than you have been when you start up again!
